Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) was set up in 1991 by a group of refugees and voluntary sector workers who were aware that refugees in Kingston were isolated and needed specialist help and support. The organisation was run by volunteers at first, but by 1996, it had employed a Director and moved into an office shared with other voluntary organisations. In 1998, a Volunteer Services Co-ordinator was employed and the range of services widened. Now, RAK employs more than 10 staff and benefits from the skills of over 80 volunteers. We provide a variety of services to meet the needs of refugees and asylum seekers.
