The parish SVP group has been involved at The Passage homeless shelter for many years. They cook and serve food to over fifty homeless people each week, on a Saturday.
The Friends have completed a period of assisting at a shelter run by West London Churches Homeless Concern in Redcliffe Square.
We staffed the shelter with 6-8 volunteers on Saturday nights, providing food and company to the visitors. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Friends to start getting involved in this important part of our work.
The Friends are actively seeking further such projects to support. Anyone interested in supporting this area of work should sign up and we will be in touch soon!
Through the SVP, we also staff the Passage Day Centre, Carlisle Place on Saturday mornings once a month to cook a hot breakfast for the homeless.
Volunteers are always welcome! Please call or e-mail us if you wish to hear more contact us.
Vulnerable Household Project
The Friends are looking for volunteers to work on our Vulnerable Household Project whereby volunteers will befriend people who are newly housed homeless, or for those in danger of losing their home because they are struggling to cope. We will receive training from an external charity with experience in this area and would like parishioners to work in pairs, offering approximately 1 hour a week to meet, befriend and offer advice to such people.
